Who is all ready for Halloween and shortly after Thanksgiving? We are all decorated and ready at the Robertson house!! My handsome grandson (seen above) turns 2 soon and we are having a Halloween themed party “BOO I’m Two!”!!
So in honor of all things pumpkin… Here is an easy hack to help those fall pumpkins last longer!
The fall season is flying by, although fall weather has yet to hit Arkansas. The air has been a little crisper in the mornings and our trees are starting to turn. I love fall colors and scents!
What is your favorite thing about fall?
Decorating for fall is so fun!! I love to use colorful mums and miss-shaped pumpkins inside and outside the house. Here is a easy way to extend your pumpkins through the entire pumpkin season.
Now before you come at me about the animals… read all the way through, because I’ll give you an animal friendly option as well.
Option 1: Bleach Bath & Scrub
For this you will need an aerated area, gloves, large sink/tub, water, scrub brush, and bleach.
- Place your pumpkins in the sink/tub.
- Fill the sink/tub with water. Enough water to cover the pumpkins.
- Pour bleach over pumpkins. I use 1/2 a gallon of bleach with my large sink.
- Use your scrub brush and loosen dirt/debris. Be sure to wear your gloves.
- Let your pumpkins soak for 30 minutes to an hour.
- Drain water and let dry.
Option 2: Vinegar Bath & Scrub, PET/ANIMAL FRIENDLY
Same items needed as listed above BUT instead of bleach use white vinegar.
- Place your pumpkins in the sink/tub.
- Fill the sink/tub with water. Enough water to cover the pumpkins.
- Pour vinegar over pumpkins. I have read that this is a 1:10 ratio.
- Use your scrub brush and loosen dirt/debris. Be sure to wear your gloves.
- Let your pumpkins soak for 30 minutes to an hour.
- Drain water and let dry.
Now get to decorating or carving or whatever your pumpkin loving heart desires to do with them!! 🎃🎃
